Ann Piper has “been in paper” all her life.
As the daughter of Joe Piper, our founder, Ann had the opportunity to learn from “the original”.
Ann received an undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and her Master of Education at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She taught elementary special education for 7 years before joining her father’s company.
At first, it seemed like no one believed Ann would stay. Her office was a desk in the hallway, no telephone and only a typewriter and a reference book of export agents around the world. Her father, puzzled over where to assign her, suggested she develop an export division for Joe Piper Inc. He probably thought she couldn’t do much damage there. Pretty soon the company was sending containers of paperboard to Israel, Europe and Central America. Ann decided this business was fun and made it her home for the next 38 years.
Ann is married to The Reverend Doug Carpenter, a priest in the Episcopal Church. Together they have 6 children and soon to be 18 grandchildren. Ann says her life has been fulfilling, exciting, rewarding and full of blessings. She is grateful to the wonderful people within the paper industry who have been our fantastic suppliers and customers.
Ann also wants to recognize the tremendous importance of the Joe Piper Inc staff “family”. This is a customer driven business and everyone here is in customer service. The dedication and knowledge of Piper employees keeps customers coming back, order after order.
